Thanks for the suggestions - I'll follow up on them. 1879 is a bit on the early side, but probably has interesting background.

I'm looking for designs, drawings or photos of ~ 1900 vintage rolling stock, standard gauge, to build (Sometime) to accompany an 1893 4-4-0 loco in 1" scale. Any suggestions?

You might take a look at:
The Railroad Car Builder's Pictorial Dictionary by Matthias Forney
Dover Publications 0-456-22974-2

From 1879, it may be a bit early, but there are lots of great detail plates.

Depending on which roads you are looking to model, you might want to check out the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society web site. I've purchaced some books from them in the past. They often have copies of the builders blueprints of certain cars available as print sets.
