i have a 1979 issue of live steam and in it is an ad for the tom thumb locomotive from a company called friends models. does anyone know where i could obtain a set of these plans, does the company still exist?any help will be grately appreciated. thanks, garry

Friends Models closed a long time ago. The assets of the firm are privately held by a Waushaukum Live Steamers member. He is preserving them, but does not have the energy to duplicate.

Another, more prototypical, alternative is the Clishay series from Live Steam circa 1977-78. Muliply all the dimensions by 1/2, and you are ready to go.

I recently visited the individual who has the assets of Friends Models, and he has indicated he might be offering the products again, as there seems to be a resurgence of 3/4" and 1" engineers, especially here in the northeast, what with Waushakum's outrageous new track!
