Fuel for steam

Does anyone use propane or butane for the fuel to raise steam????

Propane is being used as a primary fuel on many live steam locomotives. I use it on my 4+4 with very good results. With 306 1/2" tubes in my vertical boiler I must have a fuel that burns clean. Bill

I use propane in three of my locomotives and am quite happy with it. The latest one, "The Newbie Project" has a Bill Conner designed vertical boiler and will raise 100psig in less than 10 minutes from a cold start.
