Several years ago, I ran across a website that had the plans for what was called a long-stroke marine engine. It was for a stern-wheeler of probably western design. The stroke was over four times the bore diameter and it had poppet valves. I am trying to find those plans again, and have not been able to relocate them. I didn't write down the web address at the time thinking I'd revisit the site later and it was already in my "favorites" column. Well, not so any more.
Can anyone help out with a web address for such a beast?
Thanks!
Neil

Thanks, Glen. I'll check them out.
There's a ton of stuff out there; all one needs is two or three lifetimes to read it all.

Googling "sternwheel engine with poppet valves" I came up with this site.

There seems to be alot of sites that are reposting the same images and calling it their own. Good luck on your search.

Nice find, Willy. I had not seen the flow diagrams shown on that site. They clear up a number of questions I had about that type of engine.
Thanks!

Another thing to consider is to contact Disney. I seem to remember that they ran authentic riverboats. Perhaps J-E can uhhh chime in here with better info?

Sorry, no. I only knew the animation people at Disney (including Ollie Johnston, Live Steam 1:12 scale), but not any riverboaters...
