Does anybody know where i can get plans to make a small electric ( battery) powerd engine or a simple steam engine to get going in this gtreat hobby. i would like to work in 4-3/4" gauge as it seams it could be built in a smaller yard and lighter to move.any help would be great!

There are lots of great web sites that supply parts. I do not know of any plans for simple small electric engines. I would find an engine you like in old issues of Model Railroader in the prototype plans that they publish and freelance whatever you want. www.Ridingrailkits.com (http://www.Ridingrailkits.com) has 1" scale starter kits. In this hobby their prices are reasonable.
