I've been trying to find a small shop which would work with me to make cast iron locomotive parts from my patterns. There don't seem to be any in the Phoenix, AZ area. Could anyone point me at shop even if I have to do it by mail?
Thanks

Cattail Foundry in the Lancaster, PA area does small runs of castings...They specialize in steam engine parts and like objects. I'll dig out the phone number and address for you unless somebody beats me to it. A google search or a yellow pages search could yield the same information. They have no web presence being Mennonites....A friend of mine does quite a bit of business with them and they are very good.

Andy, thanks for the quick reply. I did a search and found that the shop doesn't have a phone and must be contacted through the mail. The address was listed as:
"Cattail Foundry, 167 W. Catatail RD. Gordonville,PA 17529. the owner is Emanuel King. There is no phone, being he is Amish."
If anyone has another source, please let me know. I suspect these are very small operations known only by word of mouth.
Thanks again

Hi Art,
He does have a phone. I have the number somewhere in the basement. I'll take a look for you.
They don't usually use a phone. There's a wheelwright shop in New Holland run by another Amish man and he has a phone, too. They're only used for business.

Hi Folks. I just wanted to post a link to what looks like the ideal cast iron foundry for live steam parts. Here's the link:

It will be awhile before I can try them out so I'd appreciate some feedback if you send them work.
Thanks

Try Nashua Foundry in Nashua NH.
Talk to Pete Lyons. He was a great help with my engine. Doesn't mind 1 off's but prefers match boards. ( Match boards are just plywood....) He'll help you through it and for a very small fee...perhaps less, he'll put risers and runs on your pattern.
